Things to consider when choosing your fixing or fastener

With many different fixings and fasteners available on the market, it can be challenging to know what to choose for your construction project. Whether you are working on a large-scale or small-scale construction project, you must ensure that the right product is used.

With strict legislation and building compliance, it is crucial to use the correct product to ensure safety in the construction project and ensure the project is of a high-quality standard that will last a long time.

What is a fastener?

A fastener is a term used to describe mechanical tools or elements such as screws, nuts and bolts which join two objects or materials together. A fastener is a non-permanent joint, meaning it can be taken apart without damaging the components it joins together. Take a look at our range of fasteners here.

What is a fixing?

A fixing is a mechanical tool or element such as nails and anchors used to hold construction materials together. They can also be used to affix something to a wall, roof or floor and are integral to construction projects. We have a range of fixings available.

What is it being used for?

When selecting fixings and fasteners for a construction project, it is important to consider what it is used for. Is it fixing façade products to the exterior of a building? Is it fixing something into plasterboard? Each of the fixings and fasteners we supply serves a particular purpose and are used to do a specific job in a construction project.

Our façade fixings range includes Stainless Steel Bi Metal Tekscrews, Steel Anchors, Frame Fixings, Studs and Horseshoe Shims.

Our fasteners are suitable for a range of construction purposes and needs. With an extensive range of powder-coated screws, different head styles, washer, drive and nut types, and some self-drillers, there is a fastener to suit your project specifications. You can also choose to have them in stainless steel, HDG, zinc or brass to suit your project specifications and design.

What materials are being used?

It is also essential to consider the materials used in the construction project as it is not a case of ‘one size fits all’ when looking at fasteners and fixings. Each fixing and fastener we supply have specific materials and substrates that they can be used with.

Our multi-purpose fixings can be used with a range of materials such as concrete, plasterboard and other types of materials such as insulation.
